Multicast Service The Multicast Service can be used to send mass SMS messages to mobile phones, either to users that have used your service, or to the numbers in your own database.
The Multicast provides an easy-to-interface for your mass SMS dispatches like the one in the screenshot on you right. You may send SMS either to a group of users, or to an individual mobile user.
Organise your contacts to groups The mobile phone numbers from users of your service can be easily organised into groups from the integrated multicast service options in your service view page, which allow you to add numbers ad hoc. The groups can then be used as the recipients of specific dispatches of SMS messages. There is also a management page (shown in the screenshot below) for your Multicast groups, which allows you to manually add numbers, or import them from a file, delete existing numbers, copy numbers between groups, etc. Individual Replies In addition to the groups you can also send individual replies to mobile users using the integrated menus (see screenshot below) in your service view page. Or you can also manually send SMS messages to individual mobile phone numbers that you type in. Please Note: the multicast service does not allow platform administrators to set the sender of the number to anything other than the value of one of the short codes used by the platform. The Multicast Service is a feature offered by the SMS Platform since version 4. |
